After some heavy rain overnight we awoke to a light drizzling rain this morning. Thankfully the rain had cooled things right down and eased the humidity considerably. The Bairnsdale Main Motel was great value and the bed comfortable. We could see the light at the end of the tunnel and decided to get away nice and early to make the most of the other end of the day. One of the shortest days so far at only 290km. Since it was New Years Day and we had Executive Lounge access at the Hilton we decided to take a later start and enjoy the wonderful breakfast spread Hilton put on in the Lounge. We took our time enjoying a lovely break, good coffee and a read of the paper, taking in all the news from overnight celebrations. Not surprisingly the lounge was fairly quiet until about 0930.
